Job description
Our client, a member of the London Metal Exchange, is looking for a qualified accountant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate wanting to gain experience within Financial Services from a Top 30 practice. The role is onsite with a competitive pension and benefits.
Primary Objective of the Role
* Oversee the daily financial operations of the company, including reviewing and managing accounting entries.
* Regularly compile and present financial reports (including profit and loss, resources, liquidity, etc.) on both a daily and monthly basis.
* Generate detailed assessments of the company's financial results, comparing performance with prior periods, budget, and forecasts. This includes providing insightful commentary on business trends and helping produce reports for senior management when required.
* Ensure timely submission of regulatory reports as required by the FCA.
* Assist with the preparation and submission of corporate tax and VAT returns.
Financial Risk Oversight
* Ensure adherence to FCA regulatory requirements, including capital and financial reporting obligations.
* Track cash balances and manage rolling cash flow projections to guarantee the company maintains sufficient liquidity at all times.
* Ensure all record-keeping complies with the standards set by both internal and external auditors and regulatory bodies.
* Maintain strong relations with external auditors and address any recommendations or findings they provide.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and produce financial reports for business leadership, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with the Head of Finance and Board expectations.
* Manage the company's financial resource requirements and liquidity, ensuring optimal levels are maintained.
* Prepare monthly financial statements and annual accounts, ensuring they comply with statutory regulations and accounting standards.
* Develop and update finance and accounting policy manuals.
* Assist in the preparation of company budgets, and track and assess progress towards achieving them.
* Coordinate with external auditors for the auditing of books, records, and financial statements, including those required for statutory and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CPA).
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
* 5-10 years of experience within the financial services industry or auditing experience at leading international accounting firms.
